Currants

Hurst’s Berry Farm offers both red and white currants. Red and white currants are related but vary somewhat in use and flavor. Red currants are a beautiful translucent berry used for juice, jelly, sauces, or a gorgeous plate garnish. White currants are similar in appeal to red currants but are very limited in availability.

PACKAGING

Our currants come in 6 oz. clear plastic clamshells, which travel 12 to a flat. The clear clamshell design allows for stacking in stores and protects the fragile berries. It also allows customers to see the fruit easily.

HEALTH

Currants are a great source of vitamin C and vitamin A. They are naturally low in fat, cholesterol, and sodium.

DISPLAY & HANDLING

Display Hurst’s currants alongside other berries. Creating a “berry patch” display with Hurst’s currants and other berries can encourage impulse buying. They should be stored and displayed in dry refrigeration. They should not be damp because moisture speeds the rate of decay. Their shelf life is approximately 5 to 8 days.
